My little history of software development

My name is Tharsice Demand. I have been consistently developing software since the end of the seventies of the past century.

The first machine I did ever write a program for was an Olivetti Programma 101 in 1972. The machine, that got very hot, was bigger than a pc today, with the power of a small programmable pocket calculator.

The programming language was some kind of assembler, ressembling a little bit to the RPN (reverse polish notation) of the early HP programmable pocket calculators.

Sidebar : Apparently those RPN pocket calculators are not manufactured anymore today, at least not by HP. Isn't it a pity ?

Later I did develop software using following programming languages: asm Z80, asm86, asm51, PLM51, fortran (just a little bit), modula-2, pascal, C, C++ and even Basic ! These software development projects were mostly for measuring instruments.

Nowadays most programs I am writing are written in PHP. A few have been written in Perl. And the various script-fu for the Gimp, published on this website have been written in SIOD-Scheme and later adapted to TinyScheme. Scheme is a lisp dialect.

Many of my PHP scripts are in usage on my own websites. To be easily configured and used by others and finally published, they would need some serious reworking. You guess it, therefore time is mostly lacking.

If you did poke around the website, you probably know already that I am a Linux user and fan.
